Arts Week and Exhibition

In July, we organised a very busy Arts Week, with children from both Tas Valley Federation schools involved in a wide range of activities:

  • Poetry workshop with Lewis Buxton (all year groups);
  • Textiles workshop with Claire Spender (Year 4);
  • Painting workshop with Adelaide Leeder (Reception and Year 1);
  • Lino Printing with Zoe Howard (Saxlingham);
  • Minibeast artwork with Andy Jarrett (Year 2);
  • Visits to the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts (Year 2 and Year 5);
  • Arts activities at the church on the theme of ‘What We’ll Build’ by Oliver Jeffers (Preston) and ‘Angels’ (Saxlingham).
  • National Youth Choir Workshop with Ben Vonberg-Clark.

We are also looking forward to welcoming the National Youth Choir to work with our children on Monday 15th July.

We were delighted to welcome so many parents/carers, family members and members of the local community to view our artwork at a special exhibition.

Y6 Maths Challenge at Long Stratton High School

South Norfolk Cricket Festival

In June, Preston and Saxlingham teams took part in the South Norfolk Kwik Cricket Tournament at Tas Valley Cricket Club.

Out of 11 teams, Preston finished a fantastic 6th place and Saxlingham finished as Champions!

Well done to both teams and thank you to Mrs Newson, Mr Walker and Miss Durrant for taking the children.

Year 3/4 Quick Sticks Hockey

In March, a group of Year 3 and Year 4 children have had a fantastic time at Harleston Magpies Hockey Club. They spent the morning developing their hockey skills, and then after lunch, they competed in some small 4-aside and 5-aside games. Lots of games were won and lots of goals were scored! Congratulations to all the children for their impressive determination and admirable team spirit.

Year 5/6 Residential Trip to Bawdsey, March 2024

In March 2024, together with our friends from Saxlingham, our Year 5 and Year 6 children took part in a fantastic 3-day residential trip to Bawdsey Manor in Suffolk.  Along with Mr Walker, Mrs Whitefoot, Miss Dignum, Mrs Winter and Mrs Newson, the children enjoyed some action-packed time away, challenging themselves to master new skills and conquer fears!  We enjoyed a range of activities including: the big swing, challenge course, problem solving, climbing, abseiling, archery and survival skills.  What a fantastic trip it was!
