Together We Celebrate

Presentation of Bibles

Rev. Austin visited the school at the end of the Summer Term to present Bibles to our Year 6 Leavers.  At the beginning of the Autumn Term, he visited again; this time he presented Bibles to our new Reception children.  The Bibles were kindly donated by St. Mary’s Church Tasburgh.

Visit from the Bishop of Norwich

In June 2023, Lady Dannatt, High Sheriff of Norfolk, attended the school as representative of King Charles III for the announcement by the Bishop of Norwich that the new Bishop of Thetford will be the Venerable Ian Bishop.  The Ven Bishop was previously the Vicar of Tasburgh, Tharston, Saxlingham Nethergate, Shotesham, Newton Flotman and Swainsthorpe.  He had previously been Chair of Governors at Preston, and his sons attended the school in the 1990s.  Following the announcement, the Ven Bishop led our Collective Worship, which took place outside by the gazebo and wildflower garden.  It was a real privilege to be part of such a special occasion, and I would like to extend my thanks to the children, staff and governors for working so hard to get the school ready for the occasion.

Visits to St. Mary's Church

We visit St. Mary’s Church at regular intervals throughout the year, both to learn about Christian workship and faith, and to mark key festivals such as Easter and Christmas.

In December, we were visited by members of the church for a very special Christingle service.

In October, we had a lovely Harvest Service at St. Mary’s Church, Tasburgh.  The whole school walked down to the church, carrying donations for Norwich Foodbank.  During the service, we sang songs, listened to class and individual performances of poems, and said prayers.  Thank you to everyone who was able to donate to the Food Bank, and to the team at St. Mary’s for making us feel so welcome.

Open the Book

We are extremely lucky to share collective worship with the team from St. Mary’s Tasburgh on a weekly basis.
